Valencia, 26 April 2024.- The Paprec Group, one of Europe’s leading players in recycling and waste management, is taking another step forward in strengthening its presence in Spain through the acquisition of Reciclatges Guerola, a family-owned company specialising in paper and cardboard recycling and the destruction of confidential documents, based in the Valencian town of Aielo de Malferit. With this transaction, the French multinational continues its expansion across the Valencian Community.
Negotiations for the acquisition with the Guerola Segura family, which began in September 2023, were concluded this April, and as a result the Paprec Group will incorporate more than 40 new employees from the acquired company.
According to Sylvain Cortes, Managing Director of Paprec Spain, “the acquisition of Guerola is an important step for Paprec, as it is the first recycling company to join us in Spain and marks the beginning of our development in this sector”.

Founded in 1999, Reciclatges Guerola is a company specialising in private waste recycling in the Valencian Community. It operates on a 23,400 m² site in the town of Aielo de Malferit, near Valencia. With annual sales exceeding €10 million in 2022 and a workforce of 43 employees, its main activities include the collection and sorting of paper, cardboard and all types of industrial and commercial waste, as well as the hire of containers and compactors and the confidential destruction of documents.
A stronger regional position
This new acquisition completes Paprec Spain’s territorial network in the Eastern region, where it already owns the Recimed and EcoActrins facilities (Almansa), located within a 60–70 kilometre radius of Valencia, as well as CTR, based in Vall d’Alba (Castellón).
According to Jorge Tejedo, Regional Director for the Eastern Zone, “with the acquisition of Guerola, our network in the Valencian Community is now complete. It currently includes solutions for the collection, transport and sorting of waste, a controlled landfill site and a hazardous waste treatment plant, enabling us to offer a full range of services and solutions across the Valencian territory”.
Key figures for Guerola

In addition, Guerola’s annual waste collection volume exceeds 63,000 tonnes.
