Paprec Spain

By 2022, Paprec was already operating in countries such as Switzerland, Poland, India and Morocco, and decided to expand its presence in Europe by creating a subsidiary in Spain, where it began operations that same year in Madrid.

Its implementation and growth strategy was built around two clearly differentiated pillars: on the one hand, the creation of a local structure to respond to both public and private tenders, and on the other, inorganic growth through acquisitions.

Following its establishment in 2022 and after just two years, Paprec Spain achieved a significant nationwide presence, with more than 3,000 employees across the country.

The objective is to continue growing by strengthening its presence in order to remain ever closer to public and private clients, as well as to industrial areas generating waste.

This strategy has enabled our Spanish subsidiary to secure major street cleaning and waste collection contracts while, in parallel, acquiring local treatment facilities throughout the national territory.

Recimed

In 2022, operations began with the acquisition of RECIMED (Reciclados y Servicios del Mediterráneo), dedicated to the treatment of non-hazardous industrial waste; Eco Actrins, focused on the collection of domestic and industrial waste; and CTR Mediterráneo (Centro de Tratamiento de Residuos del Mediterráneo), specialised in the management of hazardous and non-hazardous industrial waste.

In 2023, the majority acquisition of GBI Serveis was completed. The company focuses on both urban waste treatment and the collection and cleaning of municipalities and beaches, leading to the creation of the company GBI Paprec.

At the end of 2023, GBI Paprec signed the acquisition of CLD. CLD holds the contract for the largest lot in the city of Barcelona and, at the same time, one of the largest waste collection contracts in Europe.

In addition, it manages fully automated packaging sorting and SRF (Solid Recovered Fuel) treatment centres.

Paprec Guerola

In 2024, a further step was taken in strengthening its presence in Spain through the acquisition of Reciclatges Guerola, a family-owned company specialising in paper and cardboard recycling, as well as confidential document destruction, based in the Valencian town of Aielo de Malferit. With this operation, the French multinational continued its expansion across the Valencian Community.

At the end of 2025, GBI PAPREC took a further step in strengthening its presence in Spain through the acquisition of Valoritzacions Vilar Guillen (VVG), a Catalan company specialising in the recycling of paper, cardboard and industrial waste. Headquartered in Les Franqueses del Vallès, with a second facility in Sant Fost de Campsentelles, VVG strengthens the Group’s presence in Catalonia and consolidates its growth strategy in the region.
